Harford Community College held its biannual Induction Ceremony for the Gamma Upsilon Nursing Honor Society on February 25, 2019, in Darlington Hall on the College's campus. The ceremony was attended by the students; family, friends, nursing faculty and staff.
The spring 2019 inductees were Grace Bachman, Danielle Brigham, Matthew Bustos, Dainaly Caraballo, Kelsey Cochran, Katie Davis, Stephany Davis, Alexandrea dos Santos, Cassandra Eiklor, Alexandra Giordano, Benjamin Haydon, Alexandra LaComb, Kala Lincoln, Raven Lucas, Nicholas McGowan, Katherine Pasqualini, Payton Rill, Pamela Sanderson, and Steven Velte.
The students are in their fourth and final semester of the nursing program and will graduate this May. In order to be eligible for induction, they must have achieved a final grade of at least a "B" in all previous nursing courses, demonstrated conduct that reflects integrity and professionalism on campus and in the clinical setting, and completed a service project during their third semester of the nursing program.
The ceremony was followed by a reception, at which guests had the opportunity to view the inductees' service project poster presentations and discuss them with the students. The required service project is a recruitment-oriented or educational project that supports the goals of the national Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society. This group of inductees developed projects related to Mental Health, Hand Hygiene, Sleep Hygiene, Social Engagement, and HPV, which were presented at various locations across Harford County: HCC's Student Center, HCC's Early Learning Center, a HCPS high school, and a senior center.
